His Eminence Sheikh al-Yaʿqubi the Religious Referential Authority Receives His Eminence Ayatollah Sheikh al-Araki

His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad al-Yaʿqubi, the Religious Referential Authority received in his office at Holy Najaf, His Eminence Sheikh Mohsen al-Araki, head of the World Assembly for Proximity of Islamic Schools, and member of the Assembly of Experts in Islamic Republic of Iran, accompanied by the astute politician Dr. Hussein Sheikh al-Islam and a number of virtuous personalities.

The main focus of discussion was about the vital roles played by the wise Religious Referential Authority in protecting the virtuous community and safeguarding the genuine course of Islam.

The Religious Referential Authority has also contributed greatly to sketching the soundest intellectual course to be taken for—counting on Almighty God’s grace—tackling and passing successfully all challenges that are present in various forms and appearances.

The necessity of sketching such a straightforward course has become more demanding after the greater openness witnessed by the world and the remarkable leaps forward of social media tools that allowed the voice of Islam to reach the furthest parts of the world. This issue has in fact added new responsibilities to be carried out by the wise Religious Referential Authority in its capacity as the extension of the line of Imamate and Prophethood. Accordingly, it has been necessary to enroll more efforts and exerts all endeavors possible for preparing all requirements for carrying out this great responsibility.

In this regard, His Eminence Sheikh al-Araki appreciated the efforts and endeavors of His Eminence Sheikh al-Yaʿqubi in the fields of upholding the Islamic movement, enriching its growth and maintaining the genuineness of Islamic field thought that was started by Imam al-Khomeini, Martyr Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr, as well as the other principled referential authorities and master scholars who chose to take the armed path. May God sanctify their souls!

Through their prudent approaches, sagacity, steadfastness and compliment-free resoluteness, they succeeded to change many chemistries and tip many scales in the domains of struggling for God’s sake and working for Islam. Owing to the grace of God the Almighty, they have also succeeded to keep the spirit of faith alive and pulsing at the heart of the Islamic nation.

Through this blessed series of master scholars and principled leaders, the heedful generations were interrelated.

In the same meeting, there were many references to the necessity of activating scientific and knowledge communication and exchange between the Seminary of Qom and the Seminary of Najaf and raising it to the highest level, especially in such heated fields of Islamic jurisprudence that are witnessing arguments and movements, thus requiring the establishment of shared principles and rules. 

In the same context, His Eminence Sheikh al-Araki alluded to the Muslim jurisprudential products of the Center that is under his supervision; namely, Center of Government Jurisprudence.

Recently, the Center has published a three-volume Arabic book, entitled “Jurisprudence of Political System,” whose subject matter is derived from the field of Societal Jurisprudence or so called ‘Jurisprudence of Head Man.’

This field of Muslim jurisprudence frames juristically the ruler-subject relationships. In this field too, jurisprudential view is expanded so widely that it includes, besides individual-directed laws, the laws directed at groups and communities as well as the society generally.

This type of Muslim jurisprudential researches matches very well the view issued by His Eminence Sheikh al-Yaʿqubi who, twenty years ago, published a treatise concerned with social jurisprudence.

This new field of Muslim jurisprudence has had several applications in researches on Muslim jurisprudence, the most manifest example of which is the study of the religious duty of Enjoining the Right and Forbidden the Wrong and the lately published studies entitled: “Laws of Power-Sharing.”
